Darlington have signed striker Julian Joachim from Boston United. The 30 year old scored twice in Boston’s 4-1 victory over Darlington at the weekend. That prompted the Quakers to make an improved offer on Monday morning. The offer was accepted and the deal was quickly concluded.
The fee is described as £100,000 plus on the Darlington official website. Saturday’s opponents Hartlepool United made a last gasp bid for Julian but were not given permission to speak to the player. Last week Darlington had a bid for Joachim rejected last week, but today manager David Hodgson got his man. Speaking to his clubs website he said:
“Julian is a player who has played at the highest level in the English game and has scored goals wherever he has been. He is very fast and his speed worries defences and, along with the players I brought in over the summer months and who have done a great job for us already this season, he will add depth and another option to the front line. We are delighted to have signed a player of such proven pedigree as part of our promotion push.”
Joachim will be returning to Bescot with his new side on Saturday 26th August.
