Gerrard returns to Cardiff, but Hull interested in making his move permanent

Ex-Saddler News Former Saddler Anthony Gerrard has returned to Cardiff City for next season after his loan at Hull City expired.

Gerrard was loaned out to the Bluebirds Championship rivals Hull City last season and impressed for the Tigers, while in his absence City struggled with their back line.

Hull boss Nigel Pearson has admitted he would like to try sign the 25-year-old permanently, but Gerrard looks set to stay on in South Wales, where he made 50 appearances in his first season, especially with the manager’s position under uncertaincy.

On his time in the North West, Gerrard sounded as if he would be happy to return to the KC Stadium, having enjoyed his time should he not be given the chance to resurrect his Cardiff career.

“It was a fantastic season at Hull, even though we didn’t make the play-offs,”

“I think the club turned itself around with flying colours.”

Indeed they certainly did, after Hull slipped into the bottom three, earning only 14 points from their first 15 games, they stormed up the npower Championship table and finished just outside the play-offs. Gerrard played his part, scoring five goals for Hull in 42 games.
