Bristol City have announced they have agreed to sign Manchester City defender Ryan McGivern on a season-long loan deal, subject to the player passing a medical.
The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international has just signed a new contract at the Eastlands big-spenders, for whom he fully featured during pre-season.
McGivern can play at left-back or in central defence and has been farmed out to Leicester City, Walsall and Crystal Palace in past three seasons to gain experience with varying degrees of success.
The player is currently on international duty with Northern Ireland for their European Championship qualifiers against Serbia and Estonia. He will return to be in contention for the npower Championship game against Brighton & Hove Albion at Ashton Gate on Saturday, September 10th.
As well as the medical, the deal is also subject to the Football League clearance on deadline day. Manchester City have the option to recall McGivern after 28 days.
