Sheffield United manager wants more but fears further cherry picking of his squad

League One NewsSheffield United manager Danny Wilson has conceded his transfer plans are clouded in uncertainty and he fears losing his prized assets before the transfer window shuts.

Wilson became the Blades’ fourth manager in nine months following Micky Adams’ sacking in May and has signed Jean-Francois Lescinal from his former club Swindon, Danny Philliskirk , Chris Porter and Ryan Flynn so far.

When Wilson told BBC Radio Sheffield about his wish to further recruit, it became apparent he fears losing more from his recently relegated squad:

“We’re desperate to bring players in, it’s quite a difficult scenario because we don’t know where are at the moment in terms of which players are going to be available to us.

“We have to get the wage bill down, any organisation that suffers a blow like we did last season has to take steps.

“We are reliant on other clubs coming to us. It wouldn’t surprise me if people come to us at the 11th hour but I also hope we can be proactive and bring players in. The end of the transfer window cannot come quickly enough for me.”

Jamie Ward, Darius Henderson, Kingsley James, Phil Roe and Mark Yeates have all departed Bramall Lane while the Blades remain braced for offers for Ched Evans, Nick Montgomery, Stephen Quinn and Richard Cresswell.
