Walsall have today completed their first loan signing of the season, bringing in pacey left winger Dave Martin on loan from Derby County. Martin joins us on a one-month loan deal, and is set to make his Saddlers debut tonight against Oldham Athletic.
The 26 year old winger has played for both Crystal Palace and Millwall before moving to Pride Park, having been spotted playing for Dartford by the Eagles. Despite joining Derby initially on loan and then making a permanent move from The Den, Martin found his appearances limited, and has since made a couple of loan moves, including one to Notts County last season, when he featured against us in our away draw at Meadow Lane.
Martin will be wearing squad number 24, and has been brought in as cover for the injured Claude Gnakpa. Manager Dean Smith says that he “gets plenty of crosses in, scores his fair share of goals and also possesses good pace.”
Saddlers fans will be looking forward to seeing what he can do as we aim to halt a winless run against the Latics this evening.
