In our new regular feature, Walsall Web-Fans tracks down the views and thoughts of our opposite numbers.  This week, Scunthorpe United fans from Scunny-Mad talk to us about our favourite cockney Nigel Adkins, Richard Money and their thoughts of a quick return to the Championship!

 

WW-F 1.Scunthorpe have produced some good strikers in the past like Beckford, Hooper,Sharp etc anyone else on the horizon?

Gibbo2011: (Chris) Dagnall I would say, he was most championship quality last year, but already this year he seems to have improved bundles and is terrorising oppositions defences!

2.Like Walsall a decade ago, you did brilliantly to make a quick championship return.Did you feel that, like Walsall, you were punching above your weight at that level?

Alcazar: No, but the club did, hence our quick return to League 1…twice.

3.Nigel Adkins-how did his style and achievements compare to other Iron managers?

G: Well he was a very much loved manager in our camp, was gutting to see him go as Bara wasn’t up to scratch as a manager. He had some strange techniques in management, but they were successful!

4.How do you rate Alan Knill?

A:  Early days, but looking good.  Time will tell, and there is always our chairman standing behind him, ready to hold us back if we look like what we are doing will prove expensive.

5.On to the Walsall game, any predictions?

Northumbiron: Hoping the next five fixtures will be mostly wins. Iron victory by the odd goal, so probably a draw!

6.Where do you feel Scunthorpe will finish in the league this season?

G: Hmm, being optimistic – 5th. Realistically – 9th/8th.

7.For older posters, what are your recollections of Richard Money as a player and manager?

N: Ah, Dickie Dosh! Great young talent as a player, inexperienced manager.

8.Who do you class as your rivals?

A: Doncaster, Hull, Grimsby and both Sheffield clubs this season.

9.What sort of relationship do you have with your chairman?

A: He’s the reason we are now back in League 1.  Skinflint with an iron grip on his, and the club’s, finances.  Scared stiff of any debt, so we never take a chance.  He needs to get gone and take the rest of the freeloading directors with him!  Rant over.

10. How are new loan signings Shane Duffy and Sam Johnstone doing,and do you welcome such young Premiership signings?

G: FANTASTIC! Sam made some good saves on saturday and was good vocally for the defenders. Shane was just as good, both have impressed me!
