Injury keeps Fryatt on the sidelines at Hull

Former Saddlers striker Matty Fryatt has been sent to a London specialist in a bid to diagnose a nagging Achilles injury.

Fryatt, Hull City’s top scorer for the past two seasons was an ever present last term, however new Tigers manager Steve Bruce has admitted an increasing concern over his current injury which was picked up in pre-season and aggravated in the League Cup tie with Rotherham United last week.

The injury saw Fryatt sit out yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers and Bruce explained:

“Unfortunately with Matty he’s tried again after three days off and felt it again,”

“I’m sorry to report that he’s had to go and see a specialist, the same guy who looked after Liam Rosenior over the summer.

“It’s not looking great at the minute.

“The scans have revealed that there’s nothing really untoward there so it’s a frustrating one for him and for us.

“He’s no further forward than he was 10 days ago so there’s obviously an issue there.

“We just have to get to the bottom of it.”
