Orient manager praises keeper Darlow beaten by ‘magical’ or ‘fortunate’ strike

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade praised the performance of Walsall’s on-loan keeper Karl Darlow after he was shown up by a goal the manager described “magical” after his side earned a 2-1 win at Walsall.

Slade said: “It was magical wasn’t it? Obviously they will be playing that in the netbusters. It was a quality goal, a great finish and great vision.

“I didn’t think we were going to beat the keeper again because he was having an outstanding game. He made two fantastic saves but he couldn’t keep that one out. It was a wonderful goal.”

However the rumours circulating after the game insist Dean Cox’s effort was not meant and the strike actually had the intention of clearing the ball so his injured team mate could receive treatment; with a number of Walsall staff having these comments attributed to them.
