Walsall manager Dean Smith has revealed that following Craig Westcarr’s successful release from his contract at Chesterfield he is no closer to a move to The Bank’s Stadium.

 
Speaking to The Birmingham Mail ahead of Walsall’s trip to Preston Smith said:

“As for Craig, that is on-going. I would be keen to bring him here and I’ve told Craig as far as we go, and he’s got a decision to make on what he wants to do.

“What we will do is concentrate on the game today and then tomorrow is another week.

Walsall are believed to have offered a deal until the end of the season, but Westcarr is also attracting interest from elsewhere and is in seemingly no hurry to sign up and will assess his options.
